On the afternoon of March 22, the Fifth Meeting of the Fifth Staff Representatives Session of School Labor Union was held in the electric classroom. School leadership and all faculty representatives, representatives of Labor Union and observer-representatives attended the session. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jia Tianming, deputy secretary of School Party Committee and chairman of School Labor Union. The closing ceremony was hosted by vice dean Li Peng. Shen Jiexia, the chairman of Labor Union of Henan University, also attended the session.

The session began with a solemn national anthem. On behalf of the Labor Union of Henan University, Shen Jiexia congratulated the meeting. She pointed out that PE was a characteristic discipline in our university, and the grass-roots labor union was the bridge and link between the Party and the masses. This conference was an important form of teaching staff to exercise effective supervision and promote democratic governance, and was an important measure for building a first-class university. She hoped that all of you would perform your duties as representatives and actively provide advice and suggestions.

Dean Zhang Dachao made a work report on Insisting on people cultivation to Promote Construction of the First-Class Discipline of the School. He conducted a systematic review of work in 2017. When talking about the future development plan of the college, he emphasized that we should increase scientific research support, actively apply for Chinese-foreign cooperative school-running projects, set up the “International Football Academy of Henan University”, restructure the talent cultivating curriculum system, introduce international high-quality educational resources, vigorously develop graduate education, apply for new undergraduate majors, actively build “the first-level doctor's degree awarding units”, build high-level scientific research laboratories, strengthen academic exchanges and actively promote the internationalization process.

The meeting considered the report Gathering Strength and Bearing in Mind Our Mission to Unite and Mobilize the Faculty to Contribute to School Construction of first-class disciplines, written by Jia Tianming. It also listened to the vice dean Niu Yunjie’s Explanation on the Use of College Funds, and Li Peng’s Instructions on the Handling of the Proposal. The participants led by the conveners of each group to have group discussion, and contributed to the brainstorming and suggestions for the development of the college. Statements were made by the representatives of each group and the general assembly unanimously adopted the above-mentioned report.
